THE PERILOUS BRIDGE

Its the 21st century ,yeah the modern man in modern times , previous inhabitants ,centuries and generations all had very high hopes for this generation,positive and optimistic postulations of course. They were,in fact , we are of the sentiment that the dawning of each day should also mean putting birth new ideas,innovations as well as "New Generational thinkers", this should verily equate to new way way of doing things hence eradication of issues which could be considered trivial based on the technological advancement we've made thus far.
             However,The success story of this generation has hardly been hit by thorny riffraff which has the potency of taking to us our Waterloo, which could in turn damage our dignity in the eyes of the subsequent generations. YES, YES , YES , we boast some of the greatest and most creative inventions and technologies the world had ever seen since the croon's age but shouldn't that have put us in a more advantageous position of controlling such issues as water bodies overflow , poor architectural structures ,etc because apparently , all this and many more have been obvious factors overlooked which when tackled , could and would prevent some headaches as flooding , sudden collapse of buildings and to even some extent earthquakes which could be perhaps excused from the discussion for now.
             Another area worth the scrutiny is the issue of migration especially on my{Africa}continent with respect to Mediterranean  passengers as i would like to call them. Migration as in itself hasn't been the problem but the illegal route through which many try to get to Europe{mostly for greener pastures} is what paints the picture more red.Perhaps, Overall leadership on the continent has been a catalyst.
           Very, very worrying it has been seeing the numerous lives we keep loosing to this canker each year,in fact in 2015,it was estimated by United Nation High Commission for Refugee{UNHCR}THAT ABOUT 3800 people died/vanished at sea trying to make it to Europe ,such a fat figure ,what a shame.A whooping almost half the figure {1866} was recorded during the first quater of the same year.
Shocking indeed is the situation when it was revealed that a Sudanese captain ordered the cutting of the rope between the two vessels as the "trailing one begun to take on water" , such instances just further highlights how human traffickers are becoming really cynical and merciless. Human trafficking is one of the evil gifts given to humanity by greed from age II till date but the issue of human traffickers is an issue which need a broader scope i guess.
       A case of study worth my ink is the revelation that most of these migrants are mainly from Somalia. We always watch documentaries about the cataclysmic events which engulfs the Eastern Africa state, don't we?
As one who has lived within this very fine continent called AFRICA for so many years , it has become obvious to me that we lack two very fine players which cold and would shoot and qualify us for the "World Powerful Economies" league. Two players namely DEFINITENESS OF PURPOSE AND WILLPOWER. Africa has become so accustomed to to the ephemeral way of doing things that it is evident the way we go about such continental headaches where there is a whole crusade of condemnation from the leaders and that's just about it, What a shame. I can understand we live in a continent where inhabitants readily identify individuals as causes rather than why the systems are not working but i can't understand why we still sticking to the same game plan which has clearly been a failed plan. A case of study which so suits the subject matter is the African Union{A.U}. An organization made up of the various heads of African states, an organization whose functionality contradicts it's name , an organization whose so-called "UNIONISM" has but yielded little profit for the African continent.
      It is indeed a perilous bridge of which unfortunately ,constructors of such bridge {African Leaders} have done little and even no work at all in giving the problem a remeid tackle and until they or we ourselves do this, passengers of such a bridge would need to stop making the journey by the bridge or continue putting their lives on the line.
